STOP BEING MINDLESS.
Stop Being Mindless: Reclaim Your Day with Barakah
It’s strange, isn’t it?
We live in an age where the world is at our fingertips — yet our days feel emptier than ever.
Hours pass as we scroll.
One video, then another.
We tell ourselves, “Just one more.”
And then the sun has set, and all we have to show for the day are tired eyes, a restless mind, and a deep, quiet guilt in our chest.
This is the tragedy of living on autopilot.
Our time — the most precious gift Allah ﷻ has given us — slips away without us even noticing.
The Thief in Your Pocket
Every day, a silent thief steals hours from your life.
It’s not the demands of work.
It’s not family responsibilities.
It’s not even fatigue.
It’s mindlessness.
That moment when you unlock your phone without a reason.
When you tap on a notification just because it’s there.
When you scroll for “a break” and find yourself lost in a sea of nothingness.
Rasulullah ﷺ reminded us:
“Take advantage of five before five:
your youth before your old age,
your health before your illness,
your wealth before your poverty,
your free time before your busyness,
and your life before your death.” (Hakim)
Notice the words — “your free time before your busyness.”
He ﷺ knew our hours would be stolen if we didn’t guard them.
The Cost of Mindless Living
Mindlessness doesn’t just waste time.
It robs us of:
-
Presence in salah — because our minds are still buzzing from what we just watched.
-
Meaning in our days — because we never paused to ask why we’re doing what we’re doing.
-
Barakah in our work — because we’re scattered, half-present, always in a rush to the next thing.
We weren’t created to live this way.
Allah ﷻ says:
“And I did not create jinn and mankind except to worship Me.” (Qur’an 51:56)
But worship is not just prayer — it’s living every moment with intention, in a way that pleases Him.
Breaking the Cycle:
So how do you stop living mindlessly?
The answer isn’t to run away from the world or delete every app.
It’s to anchor your day in purpose.
That means:
-
Starting your day with Qur’an and du’a before touching your phone.
-
Scheduling your hours so your time serves your akhirah, not just your dunya.
-
Tracking your habits so you stay consistent in what Allah loves.
And that’s exactly why I created Elixir — The Muslim Productivity Journal.
Why I Built Elixir
I was tired of waking up and letting my phone decide my mood for the day.
I wanted a system that began with Allah’s words, not the world’s noise.
Something that reminded me of my purpose every morning — and kept me on track until night.
Elixir is a Notion template + printable PDF designed to:
-
Help you begin your day with Barakah Routine rooted in Sunnah.
-
Keep track of your ibadah, habits, and personal growth in one place.
-
Blend beauty and function, so planning your day feels like an act of worship, not a chore.
It’s not about cramming more into your day.
It’s about making your hours count.
Imagine This
You wake up.
You say the du’a of waking.
You sit with your Qur’an for 10 quiet minutes.
You open Elixir and plan your day — not just tasks, but intentions.
You track your salah, your dhikr, your moments of gratitude.
By the time the day ends, you’ve done less scrolling and more living.
You’ve worked, yes — but with focus.
You’ve rested — but without guilt.
You’ve prayed — with presence.
That’s the difference between a day on autopilot… and a day lived with barakah.
Your Time is an Amanah
You are not here by accident.
Your time is not yours to waste — it’s an amanah from Allah ﷻ.
So stop letting the algorithm write your story.
Choose your hours.
Choose your focus.
Choose your akhirah.
